I’ve decided I want to have my placenta encapsulated, what do I do now?
When you decide to have your placenta encapsulated you should make your payment via Paypal to countrymidwife@gmail.com.
I will reserve your space (it fills up quickly, so don’t delay) and send you a link to our online record keeping system where you can enter your contact information.
Then, you can just enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! It’s great if you send a heads-up email when you go into labor, and then just give me a call when you’re ready, after your baby is born.
What should I tell my provider?
Most of the hospitals and all of the homebirth midwives in Tulsa are familiar with the process so you usually only have to tell your provider/hospital staff that you wish to encapsulate your placenta and they will package it appropriately for me. If they seem unsure of what to do, or if you run into any problems, I will be happy to provide more information or visit with them.
Do I need to bring anything to the hospital?
Some hospitals require that you keep the placenta in your room to avoid any chance of it being lost or thrown away. If you are unsure of your hospitals policy it is a good idea to bring a small (6 pack sized is fine) cooler with you to the hospital so you can keep your placenta cool until I am able to pick it up.
How long does it take?
Except for special circumstances, I usually get the pills to you within 48 hours, often within 24 hours.
